Tigers active with four-star DE

Clemson defensive line coach Marion Hobby continues to hit the recruit trail hard in his recruitment of this talented defensive end.

DE Michail Carter Profile

Clemson has been known around the country for its depth across the defensive line. With Vic Beasley's massive performance at the NFL Combine and several other NFL-bound ends and tackles, Brent Venables will constantly push to reload the multitude of athletes needed in the trenches to run one of the top defenses around the nation.

One of Clemson's early targets for the 2016 class is 4-star prospect Michail Carter (Jackson, GA) out of Jackson High School. The defensive tackle is 6-foot-3 and weighs a hefty 311 pounds as a junior. He recently took some time to fill in CUTigers on his recruitment.

Carter is in the midst of making his collegiate visits as he figures out what school he wants to attend.

"I don't have any top schools yet. I want to make all my visits before I make a list," said Carter. "I have already been to Georgia, Alabama, Florida and Georgia Tech. I'm probably going to make it to Clemson, Notre Dame and Florida State as well."

Despite not making it to Clemson to this point, Carter is already finding connections with the coaching staff. "Coach Hobby has been recruiting me. He's a down to earth kind of guy. I like his personality," continued Carter.

The junior anticipates a visit to Tigertown soon but doesn't know when just yet.

"I missed the last junior day, so I'm just waiting on a date and an invite right now," said Carter.

His size is undeniable, but Carter says there's a lot more to his game than just stature. "My best skills are my quickness off the ball, the ability to play all three downs and I know how to use my hands well," replied Carter.

Carter may not know a date for a visit to Clemson, but he already has an idea of what he wants to do with his commitment. "I want to commit either during or after my senior season," said Carter.

Carter has been clocked at 4.91 seconds in the 40-yard dash and is rated as the 5th best defensive tackle coming out of the state of Georgia in 2016.
