CB Wayne Davis Profile
After recruiting talented cornerbacks like Mackensie Alexander and
Mark Fields in 2013 and 2015, respectively, Clemson is looking to add
depth at the same position with 4-star Lake Taylor High School
prospect Wayne Davis from Norfolk, Virginia.BR>
Davis recently took some time to speak with CUTigers to discuss his
recruitment and what he likes about the Tigers.BR>
"When I was at Clemson the thing I liked the most was their indoor
facility. I also noticed their coaches and players have strong
relationships," said Davis.BR>
Davis is coming off a big junior season in which he helped lead Lake
Taylor to a 15-0 record and a 4A State Championship. He is being
recruited as a cornerback, but Lake Taylor's coaching staff has taken
advantage of his athleticism on both sides of the ball.
noted, "It was a great feeling and an awesome experience to win the
State Championship. The highlight for me was when I caught a touchdown
pass to help us win."BR>
Davis spoke of his assets on the defensive side of the ball in saying,
"My best skill is my ability to make plays on the ball in the air. I
am very long, and I am very good in man coverage."BR>
The junior also said that he does not have any favorites at this time,
but he is anticipating more visits soon. "I am planning more visits
soon. I'm maybe going to make it back to Clemson in the summer," said
Davis is measured at 5-foot-11 and 180 pounds. The junior cornerback
is rated as the second best cornerback in Virginia for the class of
