Four-star DE checks out Tigertown

After landing a commitment from 4-star defensive end Rahshaun Smith last Thursday, Clemson recently got a visit from another talented defensive end.

DE Chidi Okonya Profile

2016 4-star prospect Chidi Okonya from Riverdale High School was on campus this past weekend and took some time to speak with CUTigers about the visit.

"When I was on campus last weekend I noticed how good of a program Clemson has. I really liked looking at the facilities. The renovations they are making is the best part. I like what they do defensively. They were the top ranked defense in the country last season. I like that a lot," said Okonya.

The defensive end does not have a specific finalized list of schools at this time, but that should be expected to be coming soon.

"I will probably have a top 10 soon," he said. "Probably after this current coaching period. I like Tennessee, Duke, Georgia, Ole Miss, Miami, Stanford and Florida. I am just looking for the school that makes me the most comfortable."

Despite not having that official top 10 just yet, Okonya noted that an official commitment may not be all that far away either. "I will probably commit sometime early in the summer, or maybe toward the middle of the summer," said Okonya.

Okonya was quick to point out his physique when talking about what type of addition he can make to whatever destination he chooses for his collegiate career. "My length, body type and versatility really stand out. I'm an energy type of guy. I add a spark to my teammates," continued Okonya.

Okonya is measured at 6-foot-5 and 211 pounds.

He is rated as the number 294 prospect in the nation for the 2016 class and as the number 4 defensive end in Georgia as a rising senior. Top Stories
