Elite OL talks Clemson visit

Clemson has spent much of the last couple of years recruiting offensive linemen. 2017 Eastern Alamance High School guard Jonah Melton (Mebane, NC) was recently in town for Dabo Swinney's Camp.

Melton visited with CUTigers and spoke fondly of Clemson and what they offer.

"I went to their spring game, so this was my second visit. What stood out was just the tempo. It was really fast, and I like that." Melton continued saying, "They are just winning games, and that is always good."

Melton is already thinking strongly about what will determine which school he chooses. The 6-foot-4, 285-pound guard already holds offers from Boston College, Clemson, ECU, Miami, NC State, North Carolina, South Carolina, Wake Forest and West Virginia, among others.

"I would have to say location and academics are the most important." Melton explained saying, "Football doesn't last forever, so whenever I am done playing I want to have a major in something that I like to do. Also just being somewhat close to home so all my family can come. I think Clemson is a good distance."

Before Melton begins his junior year, he is looking for big things in the upcoming season.

"I just expect everyone to go out and do their best - same for myself. I just want to do everything I can to help the team win a state championship."

Melton then went on to explain what has helped him garner so much attention from schools around the southeast. "From all the coaches I've talked to, I would say it's my footwork that makes me good. But I need to get bigger, faster and stronger."

Melton has plenty of time before he needs to settle on a decision for his collegiate career. He has not yet been rated by Scout.com.
