Skalski ready for All In Cookout

The summer is wearing away quickly. Clemson has had a lot of visitors, held camps and accepted its ninth 2016 commitment from 3-star tackle Chandler Reeves (McDonough, GA) in mid-June.

In one week, on Friday, July 17th, a number of prospects and commits will be back on campus for Dabo Swinney’s All-In Cookout.

One such commit is Northgate High School 2016 3-star inside linebacker James Skalski (Newnan, GA). Skalski has been committed to Clemson since National Signing Day and is excited for another opportunity to head north along I-85 to see Tigertown. He spoke with CUTigers to update what’s been going on in the last few months.

“The last time I was in Clemson was for the Dabo Swinney Camp,” said Skalski. “At the cookout I expect to just be with the team and other recruits – just to grow that family relationship we are going to share.”

Skalski explained that he’s looking forward to spending some time with future teammates that he doesn’t know at that well right now. “I probably talk to Sean Pollard the most. I wouldn’t say we really know each other, but that’s something I think we are all working on.”

Once Skalski finishes with the cookout, he has his eyes fully focused on his final season of high school football. “I won’t be doing anything really, just working to make my senior year the best one.”

Skalski spent part of last season on the bench with a broken thumb but says he’s fully healthy heading into the 2015 season.

“I believe I’m going to have a record-breaking year with tackles if I don’t miss a game,” explained the linebacker. “We look good, and I definitely feel like I’m one of the main leaders of the team. We just need to stick together and stay healthy.”

Skalski has been rated by Scout.com as the No. 2 inside linebacker in Georgia for 2016 and as the 31st best at the position in the country. He is 6-foot-1, weighs 223 pounds and has been timed at 4.64 in the 40-yard dash.
