Clemson will face three teams that advanced to the 2015 NCAA Tournament and five that won 20 or more games in 2014-15.
“I’m excited about our schedule,” said Head Coach Brad Brownell. “We tried to find
games that we thought would help prepare us for the ACC. Because there’s a strong
possibility we’ll have an ACC game in late December, we’ll conclude our
non-conference schedule earlier than normal.”
All of Clemson’s home games will be played in Greenville’s Bon Secours Wellness
Arena, the home to Tiger basketball while Littlejohn Coliseum undergoes a $63.5
million renovation. The opener is Friday, Nov. 13 against North Carolina Central, a
25-win team from a season ago. Five home games will be played in December,
highlighted by tilts against Alabama (Dec. 13) and South Carolina (Dec. 18).
“By playing in Greenville, it will be easier for some of our fans to watch us play,”
Brownell said. “We especially hope our fans will give us great support during that
crunch of games in December.”
The Tigers open a two-game series with Georgia by playing in Stegeman Coliseum in
Athens, Ga., on Dec. 22, 2015. The Tigers will then host the Bulldogs in the 2016-17
season opener in the newly renovated Littlejohn. The two last played in 2006-07.
“I’m excited to play at Georgia, and then turn around and open our renovated
facility against them the next season,” Brownell said. “Georgia was an NCAA
Tournament team last season, and will provide a great challenge.”
The MGM Grand Main Event features four teams, with Clemson facing UMass in the
opening game on Nov. 23. The Tigers will advance to face either Creighton or Rutgers
in the second game on Nov. 25.
“We’ve never been to Vegas, so that will be different,” Brownell said. “UMass is a
good program, and that will be a good game. We’ll have to play good basketball to
win the event.”
Season tickets are already on sale. Call 1-800-CLEMSON or visit ClemsonTigers.com
