Preview of the Season Opener for Clemson Basketball vs NC Central Friday Night

Clemson Basketball opens its 2015-16 season Friday night in Greenville against NC Central. CUTigers will be at the Well to cover the Tigers' first game. Here is a brief preview!

The Clemson Tigers open the 2015-16 season hosting the North Carolina Central Eagles (0-0) on Friday, in what will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools. The Tigers are playing this season's home games at Bon Secours Wellness Arena (14,897 seats) in downtown Greenville, SC, as Littlejohn Coliseum continues to undergo $63.5 million worth of renovations.

Clemson projected starters:
  • PG Avry Holmes
  • SG Jordan Roper
  • SF Donte Grantham
  • PF Jaron Blossomgame
  • C Landry Nnoko
The Tigers were upset by two non-conference teams in Winthrop and Gardner-Webb last season, and can't afford to drop such games if they want to earn an NCAA Tournament bid this season.

Clemson is 66-37 all-time in season openers, including 30-straight wins and winners of 42 out of the last 43.

NC Central is well-coached under LeVelle Moton, who led the Eagles to the 2nd Round of the NCAA Tournament in 2014 and NIT last season. Moton went 53-14 (31-1 in conference) in those two seasons.

The game is being streamed on ESPN3 at 7:00 PM ET. Top Stories
