Clemson Basketball Loses to UMass in Las Vegas, 82-65

Clemson dropped to 3-1 on the season after a tough tournament loss to UMass in Las Vegas Monday night.

The Clemson Tigers (3-1) fell to the Massachusetts Minutemen (4-0) 82-65 in the 1st round of the MGM Grand Main Event in Las Vegas, NV. The Tigers had a rough 1st half offensively, going down 44-22 at halftime and shooting 25.0% (7/28) from the field. UMass shot an overwhelming 51.6% (16/31; tying team record) from three on the game. Clemson did outscore the Minutemen in the 2nd half, 43-38, but it wasn't enough to overcome UMass' three-point game.

UMass' 16 triples were the fourth-most ever by a Clemson opponent, and most since Wake Forest's 19 in a 2002 triple overtime Tigers win.
Clemson shot 37.5% from the field, 22.2% from three and 57.9% (11/19) from the line. The Tigers have to improve their free throw shooting on the season (65.8%).

Jaron Blossomgame (18 points), Avry Holmes (18 points) and Gabe DeVoe (10 points) all scored in double-figures. DeVoe added 10 rebounds for his first career double-double. Freshman Ty Hudson scored a career-high 8 points in 8 minutes.

Trey Davis (25 points), Donte Clark (25 points) and Jabarie Hinds (21 points) all scored in double-figures for UMass, combining for 71 of their 82 points.
