Overton Picks the Tigers!
After a long-time Clemson lean, Diondre Overton made it official and picked Clemson over NC State and Tennessee tonight at the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl in California. Overton's announcement was televised live by Fox Sports.
The Greensboro star cited Clemson’s WR Coach and Co-Offensive Coordinator Jeff Scott as a main factor in his recruitment. Specifically making an impact was Scott’s ability to develop young talented wide receivers into NFL ready prospects, as seen in recent drafts and now on the field all over the NFL with the likes of Nuk Hopkins, Sammy Watkins, Martavis Bryant, Jaron Brown and Adam Humprhies.
What are the Tigers getting in Diondre? Clemson is getting a great possession receiver that is able to separate off the line of scrimmage and out-position almost any DB for the ball. Think Martavis Bryant without the 4.3 speed. Not that Overton lacks speed--just not that type of speed. Still, he has great ball skills, and his basketball background has also helped him well when contesting the jump balls in the red zone.
Diondre is not an early enrollee, but he will enroll in the first summer session.
