Florida Shooting Guard Considering Clemson

Most of the top rising high school senior basketball recruits are traveling all over the country to be seen at top camps and tournaments in these final days of the July evaluation period. Today, we've got the latest on a top basketball recruit being looked at by Clemson head coach Oliver Purnell.

From Las Vegas to Orlando to Los Angeles, these players are racking up the frequent flier miles so they can show their wares in front of bleachers full of college coaches.

Combo guard Danny Morrissey was going to be at the adidas Big Time in Las Vegas this last week with the Cleveland Basketball Club, but he had to stay home after his nose was broken at a recent Five-Star basketball camp. That may have canceled his travel plans, but the demand for this electric scorer is such that coaches are coming to him this week.

Morrissey told us last night that Penn State is coming to watch him shoot and drill today, and Florida State will come either today or tomorrow. Stanford is coming to watch him late Thursday, and the Cardinal will be the last of the suitors to see him in this evaluation period.

Morrissey did put together a big Nike Camp performance and started off hot at the Five-Star event before getting his nose busted. Immediately after the camps, he received surprise offers from Richmond, St. Bonaventure and Valparaiso - though all three offers came out of the blue without the schools having made any prior contact.

He has tallied major offers from Florida State, Arkansas, Clemson, Penn State and Dayton. The 6'3" scorer also has serious interest from Stanford and Ohio State.

"It's tough naming my top schools before I see them, but I like Stanford, Penn State, Dayton, Florida State and Clemson," he opines.

"I have already taken an official to Dayton in February and have four more to go. I thought I would take my time to figure out those top four schools, but now I realize that will take too long. Some schools will start offering other players."
