Lambert Says its Clemson Right Now

Clemson has already received commitments from 3 outstanding offensive linemen, but many are wondering if the Tigers can land one of the nationally ranked linemen from the Palmetto state. CUTigers.com caught up with Cory Lambert, and we've got the latest on where he would sign if today was signing day.

Greenville High School
Greenville, South Carolina

The 6-7, 306 pound star from Greenville High School currently has offers from Clemson, South Carolina, Alabama and Georgia. Expect that offer list to grow over the fall as Maryland, Florida, Tennessee, Michigan and Virginia are all showing significant interest. "It's between Clemson and South Carolina for first, Georgia, Alabama, and then Maryland," said Lambert.

If today were signing day where would the prize recruit sign?

"Probably Clemson. They are closer to home. My friends go there. I have a better chance to start there because they are losing their left tackle this year."

What about the Gamecocks, where do they stand with one of the top linemen in the southeast?

"I've talked a lot with their recruiting coordinator. My former teammate Noah Whiteside is there. It would be like old times if I went there. We are pretty close. Not best friends or anything."

Lambert will look at education and early playing time when deciding where to play on the next level.

"I will look at education. I plan on majoring in history. I also want a chance to start as a freshman. I will be looking for good coaching and a good team. I would like to play for a team that is in the top 20."

Cory Lambert is very athletic for his size. At 6-foot-7, 306-pounds, he runs the forty-yard dash in 5.0 seconds. Lambert has a vertical jump of 26 inches. He has a bench press of 405-pounds, squats 405-pounds, and power cleans 260-pounds.

We will continue to keep you updated on this superstar lineman, right up through signing day 2004.
