Five schools have separated themselves for standout defensive tackle Eric Crosby.
Alabama, Clemson, NC State, Tennessee and Virginia Tech are his top schools and all even at this time.
He gave a quick thought on each.
Alabama: “They’re just a big-time program, always on national stage and I like coach (Nick) Saban a lot,” said the 6-foot-3, 285-pound Crosby. “Also at Alabama, you have a chance to compete every day with the best and they produce a lot of big-time NFL players.”
Clemson: “They just played for a national championship and they have a great game day atmosphere. I also like the coaching staff and the fact that they put a lot of players in the NFL.”
NC State: “(Cornerbacks) coach (George) Barlow always stays in contact with me. They also have a great game day atmosphere and they just show a lot of love.”
Tennessee: “First, the game day atmosphere is crazy. When I went down there, they showed me a lot of love. I also have a close relationship with (defensive line) coach (Steve) Stripling and I like coach (Butch) Jones a lot.”
Virginia Tech: “I just met the new coaching staff, but they kept a lot of the defensive coaches from the previous staff, so I’m familiar with them. I’ve talked to coach (Justin) Fuente and (defensive tackles) coach (Galen) Scott and I like how they were honest with me.”
As for upcoming visits, Crosby will likely go to Virginia Tech this weekend, Tennessee on Feb. 19 and then Alabama on April 6-9.
“I really want to see what sets the schools apart from each other on these visits,” he said. “I want to learn more about each academically and athletically. Lastly, I just want to feel at home.”
Although he doesn’t have visits to Clemson and NC State set, Crosby said he will also try to get to both schools this spring.
He plans to commit sometime in April.
