Virginia RB Waiting on Clemson Offer

At 5-foot-8 and 175 pounds, running back Daniel Bailey ran for 1,500 yards and 28 touchdowns last season. He's hoping to put up even better numbers this year. In the meantime, several college programs are trying to get into the recruiting mix.

"I went to Penn State's camp," he said. "It was real good. I'm going up to take an unofficial visit to Syracuse on the 8th."

Bailey currently has seven scholarship offers -- Syracuse, UConn, East Carolina, Wake Forest, Marshall, Akron, and Ohio.

"Right now the top ones on my list are Penn State, Syracuse, Clemson, Pittsburgh, and Ohio."

The talented running back talked about some of his favorites. "Syracuse was the first to offer," he said. "If I like it there, I might go ahead and [commit]. Pittsburgh has a good team that's rising up. I have a cousin at Penn State and the coaches are like family there."

Bailey is also being recruited by Virginia Tech but isn't sure what's going on there. "It's kinda weird with them," he said.

"They send me handwritten letters and stuff but they haven't offered. I know they've offered other backs in Virginia like Antwain Carey so I don't know what's going on. If they offer, they'll definitely be on my list."

Bailey is being recruited to play football at Clemson by defensive coordinator John Lovett.

We will continue to keep you updated on Daniel Bailey, right up through signing day 2004.
