Clemson Extends Offer to Future 5-Star LB

Shortly after adding Grayson Head Coach Mickey Conn to the staff, Clemson has extended an offer to 2019 LB Owen Pappoe.

The Tigers have pulled the trigger on offering Grayson's freshman phenom, Owen Pappoe. Clemson had been delaying dropping this offer, but it seems with the new hire of Mickey Conn (former Grayson Head Coach), the staff has decided there is no time like the present. Conn is Dabo Swinney's old teammate and roommate at Alabama, and he has sent Grayson stars Wayne Gallman, Ryan Carter and Nick Schuessler to Clemson in recent years. Owen, who received his first of many offers in the 8th grade, has been the topic of a lot of debate about offering a player at such a young age, and Clemson has tried to stay away from offering freshman prospects. Owen has a who's-who list of offers already and has visited Alabama, UGA and, most recently, Tennessee. I can tell you there was a lot of buzz around his camp visit last year when the Grayson contingent arrived at Dabo Swinney's camp.  Owen was not participating in the camp but was being given the Orange Carpet treatment. I caught up with him that day, as he was just watching the coaches work out the campers and taking it all in on his own. As we reported here on CUTigers, Owen had planned to attend the Notre Dame game but was unable to make the trip. He did, however, find his way to Death Valley for the Wake Forest game at the end of the season. Now that Clemson has finally dropped the offer, look for them to end up in his final list of schools--a list he plans to release on April 9th. Stay tuned, as we continue to track Owen's recruitment and post updates on the Recruiting Radar Screen forum!
