Well spring arrived in the upstate over the weekend, and also arriving was the optimism that this 2017 class is going to challenge for the top class in Clemson history. The list of recruits still involved with the Tigers is a who’s-who of 2017 national and regional blue-chippers.
The Tigers' next big weekend will be on April 9th, as the staff unveils the 2016 Clemson Tigers to the Clemson Nation at the annual Orange and White Game. A roll call of big-time commits and uncommitted prospects are scheduled to attend, and we are busy confirming this list on a weekly basis. We will update it when we have a true idea of all the attendees.
Until then, here is a list of some of the higher profile players to keep your eyes on moving forward here in 2016 and looking towards the 2017 class.
WR Tee Higgins
S Xavier McKinney (Bama commit)
WR OrTre Smith
Stay tuned here to CUTigers and the Recruiting Radar Screen forum, as we continue to track and report back all we hear and find out relating to this year's 2017 class.
****2019 Offers Going Out
The biggest news coming out of last week actually involved a pair of 2019 recruits, as the Tigers offered big-time LB Owen Pappoe out of Loganville,GA and Grayson HS. In case you missed it, take a look at the article we released last week when the offer broke. He will likely be a top-10 recruit in 2019, and you may recall we captured some photos of him at the Wake game last season.
The other heralded 2019 recruit we are tracking since his Clemson offer while on campus last Friday is St. Simon’s Island, GA's Jashawn Sheffield. He's a player who is bursting onto radar screens all over the region and is attracting some national attention early. With a long way to go here, the Tigers laid the offer on the table, as Sheffield was in Clemson in conjunction with his coaches attending the Clemson Coaches Clinic.
Clemson is very conservative about laying out offers to freshman, but so far this season three 2019 offers have now gone out--one to local DE Zacch Pickens of TL Hanna in Anderson, SC, and the other two to Pappoe and Sheffield.
****Hamsah Nasirideen to Visit This Weekend
Clemson has just recently offered the NC star, a prospect who is blowing up all over the recruiting map and has offers from all over the Power Five conferences. He has a busy week planned with trips to FSU and Florida, and he has let the staff know he plans to be on campus this weekend. A tall, lanky and very athletic safety prospect, he is “just what the doctor ordered," as Clemson loves this type of athlete for the position. So stay tuned, as we track this big-time Tar Heel State prospect moving forward right here on CUTigers and the Radar Screen.
****2017 Spotlight Player of the Week
Self-described as “tenacious on the field,” Matt just visited Tiger Town this weekend.
OL Matt Bockhorst Cincinnati, OH (Xavier HS)
Matt is built in the mold of a traditional road grader and really takes pride in his work ethic both on and off the field. The Tigers got a true guard when they landed the Ohio big man's verbal commitment. A player that will be able to move up and down the line, filling in spots, as the Tigers and Coach Robbie Caldwell are well known to cross-train their offensive linemen so they are able to move into all the slots along the front.
Matt has a high football IQ and loves the grind of training and practice, which should make him fit in just fine with fellow 4-star commits Noah DeHond and Blake Vinson. Matt was just in Tiger Town this weekend to take in practice for the first time, and he had the chance to speak with Coach Robbie Caldwell in person.
****Talk About Veritcal!

****Tiger QB Commit Invited to Elite 11
Clemson 2017 class member/commit Chase Brice of Loganville,GA’s Grayson High School just received an invite to the Elite 11 Quarterback Challenge to be held later this summer in California. Look for Clemson’s other QB commit Hunter Johnson to also receive a offer to attend the Elite 11 when he participates In "The Opening” combine coming up in Columbus, OH.
