4-star DE Xavier Thomas is a potential 5-star prospect for the 2018 class. He has been getting a lot of attention since receiving his first offer from childhood favorite FSU. Being from Florence, he grew up a fan of another Florence native, former FSU and Pittsburgh Steelers star Lawrence Timmons. After FSU tendered that initial offer, the in-state schools were not far behind. With camp stops at both Clemson and South Carolina last summer, Thomas has solidified his presence in each team's defensive end pecking order for the 2018 class. Thomas has been on campus at Clemson numerous times over the past year and has had nothing but nice things to say about his Clemson experience. His latest visit was a Junior Day appearance in which he garnered some much-wanted one-on-one time with Clemson head man Dabo Swinney. Now that the word is out about Thomas, he's building on a very productive 2015 season. You are going to see SEC, ACC and Power Five schools all over the radar lined up to make a stop off I-95 to visit this Pee Dee area star.
Scout National Recruiting Analyst Chad Simmons caught up with Thomas recently, and he discussed Clemson along with his other top four schools.
