Clemson Staff Visits 4-Star Wando WR OrTre Smith

Clemson has become known as WRU, and it intends to keep it that way through its recruiting efforts.

Clemson sent in both Co-Offensive Coordinators, Jeff Scott and recruiter of record Tony Elliot,  to see OrTre Smith yesterday. They are letting the state's top player in 2017 know that he is a priority to this staff, and they are making a serious move here in the Wando star's recruitment. It has been rumored that the in-state Gamecocks had taken a lead for the commitment of one of the nations best WR prospects after he had visited the South Carolina campus with more frequency than his trips to the upstate this Spring. However, this recruitment has been played with a long and steady hand by the Tigers' staff.

Coach Scott and Smith built a solid relationship at last year's Dabo Swinney Camp, and it's no secret that the Clemson offer is one Smith coveted from the outset of his recruitment.  And let's remember: OrTre's mom is a Clemson alum. She spent her college career on the Volleyball court in Tiger Town. OrTre is expected to announce a top five this month, and we feel confident both in-state schools will be firmly in the mix. Stay tuned, as things on the WR front are being put on a fast track, and an commitment might come sooner rather than later with the remaining wide receiver prospects left on the board.
