Five Questions with 2018 4-Star QB Target Emory Jones
Clemson again reached into the Peach State to try and pick up one of the state's top QB’s, as the Tigers offer 4-star 2018 QB Emory Jones. The gunslinger has seen his offer list absolutely explode this spring after a stellar set of performances at recent skills combines and camps.
Clemson QB Coach Brandon Streeter went down to Heard County, GA to check in on Jones, as one of his stops in the May evaluation period, and came away more than just impressed. Streeter was able to see the junior throw on site, and the offer was relayed later in the same day.
CUTigers reached out to Jones to get his thoughts on the offer, Clemson and the recruiting process.
CUTigers: What was your response to Clemson laying the offer on the table?
Emory: “My response is it's an exciting offer to get. I've been really high on Clemson for a long time.”
CUTigers: Are you planning on a return trip to Clemson? What coach is recruiting you for the Tigers?
Emory: “I'm heading down for camp soon. Coach Streeter is recruiting me right now.”
CUTigers: What is the staff telling you about the QB position at Clemson and where you fit in?
Emory: “They're telling me I'm a Deshaun Watson type of quarterback and that I have all the tools to be a great quarterback.”
CUTigers: What is the appeal and thing you like most about Clemson when thinking about your recruitment?
Emory: “The thing I love most is the family concept that Clemson has. Everything is about family, and that's important to me."
CUTigers: What players do you model your game after?
Emory: (laughing) I model myself after Cam Newton, Peyton Manning & Drew Brees all in one!
