Clemson received a surprise commitment Saturday night from 2017 TE/DE/LB standout and local Rock Hill Northwestern HS product Logan Rudolph, a 4-star stud. Clemson had been putting on the full court press for Logan since the offer was dropped shortly after Kyle Richardson, Rudolph's high school Coach was added to the staff. Much was said about the offer because Logan is a TE/DE prospect and was offered as a LB by Clemson Defensive Coordinator Brent Venables. Logan brings his tall frame and great technique to join a stellar 2017 class the Tigers are amassing. As you can see from his tweet below, Logan is an ax-wielding lumberjack who perfectly fits the mold of a Venables linebacker.
Once again, the Clemson staff is addressing a serious need and at the same time taking an in-state prospect that they were really trying hard to get a commit from. Clemson held off not just their rival Gamecocks but a bevy of Power Five schools such as Alabama, Auburn, Michigan, Notre Dame, FSU, Florida, USC, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Penn State and many more.
