OL Roman Fry Update

We have another update on Ironton, Ohio's "animal" of an offensive lineman, Roman Fry. Now that many of the big time programs in the south are starting to take notice of this strong prospect, how do the Tigers currently stand? If you are a serious Clemson fan, you'll absolutely love this update.

We had a brief chance to get some solid information on Roman Fry (6'4" 245 lbs. 4.8 forty, 350 Bench, 455 squat, 300 clean) this past week and we are happy to report that we have great news.

Roman Fry, who has been described as an absolute animal on the football field for the Ironton "Fighting Tigers" has the Clemson Tigers as his current #1.

In speaking with Roman's father, Ed Fry we were able to discover several important facts that may be the key to his son becoming the next great Clemson offensive lineman.

You see, Fry loves the "small town atmosphere." He enjoys hunting and fishing, and the Clemson area fits perfectly into the equation. In fact, Roman saw the Tiger paws on the road leading to CU this summer and said, "just like back home". Fry plays in a football "obsessed" town in Ironton, Ohio, and he wants that same exact feel in college. Can you Tiger fans think of a better place than Clemson?

Coach Turner has been the one recruiting Roman the hardest. The Fry family has met all the coaches, including Coach Bowden, and they have been "most impressive." Fry has also been impressed with the academic support for athletes at Clemson.

So far, Roman Fry has made unofficial visits to Clemson, Ohio State, WVU, Indiana, and Ohio University. He will attend the Clemson/Virginia game September 22.

The Ironton Football program has been very successful in producing quality division 1-A prospects over the last few years, LB Redgie Arden (Ohio State), CB Jason Harmon (Michigan State), LB Mike Henry (Ohio U.), and SS James Taylor (Ohio U.) are just several former Ironton players who are currently playing NCAA Division 1-A football. Furthermore, his team's record last year was 10-2 (regional finalist) and year before Ironton was 10-4. (state runner-up)

In other words, this kid comes from a very successful background, and as the team captain, you know he's a leader.

Roman's current offers include: Clemson, West Virginia, Wake Forest, Indiana, Akron, Cincinnati, Ohio University, and Bowling Green. He is also being recruited by Ohio State (who attended his game Friday evening), Georgia, Georgia Tech, Boston College, Notre Dame, all of the MAC schools, Purdue, and Auburn.

The word is that he will easily be able to put on another 30-40 lbs, and with that possibility, this student-athlete could become a HUGE force on the Tigers' offensive line.

We will continue to keep you updated on Roman Fry's progress throughout the season, but make no mistake, his stock is clearly on the rise.
