The current offer list for the 6-2, 184 pound prospect includes South Carolina, Clemson and Vanderbilt, but that list should increase over the next few months as Tennessee, Florida, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Maryland, Wake Forest and Duke are all showing interest.

Hamlin is not ready to go on record with a leader or a list of favorites at this point.

The star athlete did everything for Lamar High School as a junior. Hamlin had 96 tackles, 10 interceptions as a defensive back, 4 touchdowns as a receiver, one punt return touchdown and one kickoff return touchdown last season.

Running backs coach Burton Burns is recruiting Hamlin to play free safety for the Tigers. "Coach Burns is a very nice guy. He's easy to get along with," said Hamlin. "Clemson was my favorite school growing up. I like Death Valley a lot."

South Carolina is recruiting Hamlin for as a receiver and defensive back. "I prefer to play defense. South Carolina is close to home. They have pretty cool coaches."

Don't expect an early commitment from the Lamar athlete, as he wants to wait as long as possible to make a final decision. "I will probably wait till signing day to make my commitment," stated Hamlin.

Hamlin camped at South Carolina and Charleston Southern this summer. He did not camp at Clemson, but he was able to attend the junior day last spring.

Early playing time will be critical in the decision making process for Hamlin. "I will look at the depth chart and I will also look at the speed on defense. My strengths are making tackles and reading the quarterback," added Hamlin.

Distance is not a factor for Hamlin, but it is for his mother. "My mom wants me to go some place kind of close. My dad doesn't really care."

Hamlin's favorite Tiger is former star linebacker Levon Kirkland. We will continue to keep you updated on this outstanding athlete from South Carolina, right up through signing day 2004.
