Purnell Picks up a Big Commitment

Cheyenne Moore is off the board. The Top 100 wing player is headed south for the next four years. The South Kent small forward committed yesterday afternoon to head coach Oliver Purnell and Clemson University.

Moore has a long standing relationship with Coach Oliver Purnell dating back to his days at Dayton when Purnell committed to recruiting Moore.

That's when we first met them, out at Flying to the Hoop [in Dayton] last year, current South Kent and former West Nottingham coach Raphael Chillious said. He was trying to recruit Cheyenne when he was at Dayton. Then he got the job at Clemson and did a school visit with him at West Nottingham.

Purnell, who is an assistant with the United States team this month, now has his first recruit in the Class of 2004.

DePaul had offered Moore a scholarship he was hearing from Georgia Tech and Boston College as well. Last season, he averaged 14.5 points. He would have averaged more but for the first half of the year I had to have him play the point.

Playing the point is something Moore could see time at during his run at Clemson, according to Chillious. Initially, he's a wing guy that can play the two or three position, but he can also slide up to the point if you want to put a big guy in and he's pretty athletic.
