LB James Simmons
6-0, 235, 4.75
Carolina High School
Greenville, South Carolina
Though he has no offers at this point, Carolina (SC) linebacker James Simmons is pushing hard to better prepare himself for the season and look good for the college scouts this fall.
"North Carolina and South Carolina are the schools I am getting the most information from. I am also getting a lot from Virginia, too," says the 6-foot, 235 pounder. "I was a fan of Clemson when I was growing up, and I am getting stuff from them, too, but there is not really a leader right now."
Simmons, who ran a 4.75 40 and 4.43 shuttle at the Auburn Nike Camp, is a hard worker in the weight room, and that should pay off this year.
"I am benching 400 pounds and squatting over 500. We are looking good this year team wise and the coaches are going to give me more control on defense. Last year, I had 118 tackles and four sacks, so I want to come out better than that.
"The coaches are asking for film of the first few games of my senior year to see if they should offer. The way I worked this summer, I like my chances."
We will continue to keep you updated on James Simmons, right up through signing day 2004.
