Coming off an appearance in the National Championship Game, Dabo Swinney has been very pleased with the effort and intensity he has seen from his team in the first week of August Camp. He has stressed that the Tigers are nowhere near ready for their season opener at Auburn, but he is very excited about the pieces he has to work with for 2016. In particular, Dabo has been extremely impressed with the crop of freshman players he has this season, saying that he believes they hit the mark on every single one of them. The Tigers welcomed 7 of their 2016 signees in January, and the rest have made their debut on the practice fields this week. RB Tavien Feaster, DE Xavier Kelly, CB Trayvon Mullen and DB K'Von Wallace have been some of the standouts that have caught Dabo's eye in the first week of camp. He has also lauded Cornell Powell in the return game. One of the most anticipated freshmen is DT Dexter "Big Dex" Lawrence, who figures to factor prominently on the defensive line this season. Lawrence was one of the 7 early enrollees in January, so he was able to benefit from spring practice, as were freshman linebackers Tre Lamar and Shaq Smith, who are also expected to contribute early on the defensive side of the ball.
