ATLANTA, GA - Clemson got its 13th verbal commitment today from high 4-star defensive back A.J. Terrell from Westlake High School in Atlanta. A.J. adds to a stellar 2017 Clemson recruiting class and is the second commitment in the month of August, falling on the heels of 4-star Virginia DE Jordan Williams.
With the Terrell commitment, the Tigers are picking up another big-bodied corner just like they did with 2016 signee Trayvon Mullen and continuing the trend of big corners for coach Mike Reed and defensive Coordinator Brent Venables.
Terrell also brings his rangy frame and great balls skills along with the knack for contact. We've heard and seen more than enough about the Peach State standout, and he’s well known for the fact he likes to make contact and does not shy away from it.
Terrell joins his childhood friend and fellow Clemson commit LeAnthony Williams in the defensive backfield for the 2107 class with yet another defensive back spot left on the big board for 2017. Who will it be? Stay tuned here at CUTigers.com and the Recruiting Radar Screen forum to find out!
There has been quite a bit of chatter on Williams's teammate at Roswell High, Xavier McKinney, the former Alabama commit who is also trending Orange at the present time. But keep your eyes on Devon Hunter of Virginia and also Markquese Bell, the converted WR of New Jersey here, as it will be first-come, first-serve on that last defensive back spot on the board. This could wind up being Clemson's best DB class ever!
