We had the chance to speak with one of the most intriguing regional and national prospects I have come across this year in 2018 offensive line prospect Jamaree Salyer of Pace Academy in Atlanta, Ga.
Salyer and teammate, and now UGA commit Andrew Thomas, anchor and offensive line that most colleges would like to have. So you can only imagine the traffic in and out of the Pace Academy hallways, athletic offices and sidelines during football season with regard to recruiting these two and the rest of the school’s roster.
Schools such as Clemson, Georgia, Alabama, Notre Dame, FSU, Tennessee and pretty much all of the "blue bloods" of the ACC and SEC have all stepped up with offers and are vying for the 5-star’s commitment.
At this time, we believe it to be a two-team race between in-state UGA and the Tigers of Clemson from right down I-85 and the eastern shore of Lake Hartwell.
Salyer last was on campus at Clemson during the team's spring workouts, visiting that day along with then un-committed Andrew Thomas to check out the Tigers, and they received the Orange Carpet treatment that day as they checked out all things Clemson.
Whoever the monster from the Peach State decides to pick and commit to is going to get an extremely athletic and powerful player that is very advanced for his age from a footwork and football IQ standpoint.
Salyer could see playing time at his school of choice as soon as his first season as a college player. He’s that kind of talent that could and would make an instant impact wherever he decides to go.
CUTigers had the chance to speak with Jamaree and catch up on his recruitment. Here is what he had to say to us.
CUTigers: What have you been up to this summer?
JS: “I had a lot of fun at The Opening Finals, and I went to UGA a couple of times as well as Notre Dame.”
CUTigers: Do you have any game day visits in mind for this season?
JS: “I know I want to get up to see an Ohio State game as well as for sure the Tennessee vs UGA game.”
CUTigers: What have you heard from the Clemson staff as of late?
JS: “I haven't heard from them since last spring.”
CUTigers: What is it you’re looking for in your school of choice on the field and as a student-athlete?
JS: “I want a good education and a chance to develop my game and be able to play at the highest level I can.”
CUTigers: What player or former player in either the NFL or college would you say you model yourself after?
JS: “Larry Allen.”
CUTigers: Do you have any plans set on getting back up to Clemson?
JS: “Hopefully for a game. I'm not sure which one yet.”
CUTigers: Finally, what is the coolest thing you can say about being recruited by teams all over the country?
JS: “It gives me a reason to travel outside of I-85.”
