Is there any chance at all you guys will underestimate Furman this week?
Sharpe: If you would have asked me the question before the Georgia game is there a chance that Furman is going to come out and play hard, and give us a good game...I'd tell you yeah. I think there is. Furman is a tough football team and I know those guys are going to come in here Saturday and compete for four quarters. They are very talented team with a lot of good players, we aren't taking them for granted.
How do you feel about the offensive's line performance last week?
Sharpe: I don't think we played as bad as people think. We had two drives where we got right to the goal line but didn't come away with any points- and that's disappointing. But at the same time we should have played a lot better. There's a lot of room for improvement this week. I think we played a big role in the loss, but we weren't the only reason. Like I said, there's definite room for improvement.
Do you feel like this team can achieve all of the things that it set out to accomplish this year after a loss like that to Georgia? Is there doubt in your mind right now?
Sharpe: Oh yeah. Anytime anybody fails, there's some doubt in your mind. The difference between those people that succeed after that is that those people get up and change what they are doing. We can still accomplish everything we set out to do this year, we just have to go out and do it.
Some people are worried that the year is going to go in the tank just like we saw last year- with more blowout losses and another 7 win regular season. As a player, how do you prevent something like that from happening?
Sharpe: You just take it one day at a time. You look at the mistakes you made in the Georgia game and you correct them one by one, and you move on. You don't dwell on it. This week, we need to be thinking about Furman. You take it one play a time and that's the only real way you can do it.
