Clemson Lone Offer for SC QB

With the season going well for Sumter's William Richardson, he was able to take in a game with two of his favorites over the weekend. What's the latest on the recruitment of this signal caller who has family ties to Penn State? We've go the latest in this report.

QB William Richardson
6-4, 210, 4.8
Sumter High School
Sumter, South Carolina

"I went to (South) Carolina for their game against Virginia," says the 6-foot-4, 210 pound gunslinger. "It was a really surprising game. I thought that Virginia would be able to keep it a lot closer, but it was pretty much a blowout."

While Richardson admits that the support at the game was fantastic from the Gamecock fans, he still needs a little more support from colleges in the form of offers. His Sumter team started the season well including a 49-13 win Friday night, with Richardson going 10-of-16 for 132 yards and a touchdown. William could use that film very soon to aid in his search for more offers.

"Things are up in the air right now, and I am about to send out more film from our first few games. The teams that I like are Virginia, NC State, Maryland, Clemson, Penn State, South Carolina, and Tennessee, but Clemson is the only team that has offered."

Richardson visited Virginia for their camp and Clemson for several games last season, so a visit to his other favorites could help him learn what they have to offer.

"I want to play in a pro-style offense, and that is what these schools can give to me."

We will continue to keep you updated on William Richardson, right up through signing day 2004.
