****Week 2 Camp Notes
Week 2 of the Dabo Swinney Camp got underway with the heat of the summer bearing down hard on the practice fields in Jervey Meadows. The staff prepared for a second week to welcome campers of all ages and, specifically, a few choice targets for the upcoming 2019 and 2020 classes.
With the staff already looking ahead to those classes and beyond, they have watched a litany of players and prospects as they worked on drills in front of the coaching staff and many of the current Clemson roster, as players are filling in and helping out with the coaching duties due to the big rule change this year. With the NCAA disallowing high school coaches for the first time, the staff brought in several regional coaching staffs from lower tier universities and colleges from all over the area.
We are aware of several visitors that made the trip down and a few notable ones. Atlanta resident Jamaree Salyer, the top OL on the Clemson board, made the trip up and even worked out for the second year in a row. And he did not fail to impress. The big man looked great in the drills we were able to see.
Others notables that showed up included Peach State safety Quindarious Monday and 2018 RB Jahmir Smith from North Carolina. Then there were players like ATH Richard Jibunor of Athens, GA, a 2018 prospect that turned heads all over the place on his one day at the camp. Jibunor holds over 22 offers but has yet to receive one from the Defending National Champs.
But the staff was definitely putting out the offers over the last few days of this year’s camp, with offers going to DL's like 2019 FSU DE commit Quashon Fuller Quahson Fuller, 2019 DT Curtis Fann Jr. and 2018 DT Justin Tuitele from Hawaii.
Athletic specimen Richard Jibunor made a lot of heads turn during his camp visit to Clemson
****5-Star OL Makes Appearance
5-Star OL Jamaree Salyer and Coach Swinney having some fun prior to his work out at camp
Big-time OG Jamaree Salyer, arguably the top player left on the Clemson big board for 2018, made the trip north up I-85 from the Atlanta area and Pace Academy to participate in the Dabo Swinney Camp for the second straight year. Salyer holds the Tigers in high regard, and if you ask us, Clemson is definitely inside his top 2 along with in-state UGA. Salyer was on campus to visit, and he also put on his cleats to jump into the fray. He worked out for Coach Robbie Caldwell and his OL staff. Plenty of attention was paid to the mauler from Georgia as he traversed the practice fields and made the rounds to the specific drill stations.
Coach Dabo Swinney made a point to stop by the OL group and hang out with Salyer's high school coach, checking in on the 2018 blue-chipper's workout. Stay tuned, as Salyer will play his recruitment out to the very end, and it's a two-team race as it stands, with the Tigers leading the way, in our eyes, if he were to choose today.
So keep it right here at CUTigers.com, and we will keep you updated with Jamaree's recruitment and where the Tigers stand each week until we see him pledge to a school later this winter.
****Jefferies Commits to Clemson
Clemson picked up commitment #11 with one of the top DL's on the Tigers' board for the 2018 class. Darnell Jefferies, a stud DT out of the Peach State, picked Clemson over in-state UGA and Alabama. This commitment was a long time coming, as we had pegged him to commit at some point this summer. We had our eye on Jefferies committing at Dabo's All In Cookout, but he decided to go ahead and pull the trigger.
The timing of the commitment allowed Jefferies and his family to take the ride up to campus and enjoy this year's camp as a commit, giving him an entirely different perspective on everything. Also with Jeffries on the visit was fellow DL commit and local friend Justin Mascoll.
The two of them were spotted all over the place, checking in on Coach Todd Bates and his DL drills, as well as making their way into the new Reeves Operations Center. They were also spotted showing the place off to Quashon Fuller, a 2019 DE commit to FSU.
With Jefferies, the Tigers get a DL in the mold of a Rashaad Jackson or DeShawn Williams, if you want me to compare him to past Tigers. Add in a little of Rennie Moore's motor, and you get the 4-star DT from Georgia.
****New Offer to Hawaiian DT
Big-time 2019 DT Faatui Title ("Justin") made the long trip from Honolulu to Clemson and got the offer he was seeking from the Tigers. The Samoan monster from Hawaii has offers from all over the Power Five and is listed as a 5-star DT by several services. The staff are no strangers to players from the Hawaiian Islands, as Oregon transfer Scott Pagano just graduated from Clemson after helping the Tigers win the National Championship. And Justin is in the same mold as.
We will keep you updated on Justin's recruitment and whether he can make it back to Clemson for a game in the 2017 season. As for now, he's still on a whirlwind tour that takes him out west and to visit BYU and Utah back-to-back on his way home to the island.
If the staff can get the big-time DT back on campus this fall or for an official visit, things could get very interesting with his newly offered DT. Stay Tuned!

****New Offer Out to FSU Commit
Clemson offers 2019 DE Quashon Fuller out of the Sunshine State of Florida. Fuller, who was on campus visiting Clemson for the first time and was seen in the company of current 2018 Clemson DL commits Justin Mascoll and Darnell Jefferies, is currently a commit to FSU. But that could be in jeopardy as he makes the rounds, taking visits to other schools.
The Tigers are sincere in their interest here and will be following up on the offer with stops of their own to visit the Florida big-man this fall. Expect to see an invitation to Dabo's All In Cookout coming up in July--an event in which Clemson likes to bring in its “prime” targets for some VIP and Orange Carpet treatment.
****Another New DL Offer
The Tigers extended yet another DL offer to 2019 Georgia prospect Curtis Fann Jr. after an impressive camp stop and workout in front of the Clemson staff. Add the National Champs to Auburn, Alabama, LSU, UGA, South Carolina and host of ACC and SEC schools tendering offers.
Stay tuned right here to CUTigers.com and the Recruiting Radar for more on this offer and where this recruitment leads in the coming days, weeks and months. The 2019 class has a long way to go, and Clemson is just now starting to target those top-tier wants and needs.
