If Saturday's 68th renewal of the Yellow Jacket-Tiger rivalry follows the pattern of the last seven encounters, fans in Bobby Dodd Stadium will be in for an evening of offensive fireworks and last-minute heroics.

THE GAME: In the first-ever meeting between North Carolina and Wisconsin, the Tar Heels will make their first road trip of the season ... LAST YEAR: Freshman tailback T.A. McLendon tied a 30-year NC State record and set an ACC freshmen record by scoring five touchdowns in a 51-48 overtime win for the Pack. THE GAME: Duke looks to extend its win streak to three-in-a-row when the Blue Devils host Big 10 foe Northwestern in Wallace Wade Stadium ... Saturday's game marks the 14th meeting between the two teams with the Blue Devils holding a 7-6 series lead, including a 3-3 mark in Durham ... the Wildcats have won four in a row in the series, including the last two meetings in Wallace Wade Stadium.

LAST YEAR: Northwestern outscored Duke 23-7 in the final 36 minutes to post a 26-21 victory in Evanston ... the Blue Devils totaled 428 yards of offense and held the football for over 32 minutes, but suffered four turnovers.

LAST YEAR: Maryland used a 28-point first quarter to hand the Mountaineers a 48-17 defeat in Morgantown ... the Terps had five touchdown plays of more than 20 yards, including four in the first quarter.

THE COACHES: Maryland's Ralph Friedgen is 22-7 in his third year as a head coach ... Rich Rodriguez has an overall record of 58-50-2 in 11 seasons as a head coach, including a 13-14 record in his third year at West Virginia.

THE GAME: Wake Forest's Demon Deacons look to bounce back from Saturday's loss to Purdue when they take on East Carolina for the sixth time in a series that was first contested in 1963 ... Wake Forest has won two in a row and leads the rivalry 3-2 ... the Deacs are 2-0 against the Pirates in Groves Stadium.

LAST YEAR: James MacPherson threw for 216 yards and a touchdown in a 27-22 Wake Forest victory ... the win was the second straight over the Pirates who were hampered by five turnovers in the game.

THE COACHES: Jim Grobe is 15-12 in his third season at Wake Forest and 48-45-1 in his nine years overall ... John Thompson is in his first season as a head coach with an 0-3 record.
