The 6-3, 190 pound speedster has previously listed North Carolina and Clemson as his favorites, but he is now naming Clemson as his leader.

"Right now I'd have to say Clemson is my leader. They are calling me a good bit to check in on me. They are sending me a lot of letters in the mail. Every week I get a letter to see how I progressed."

"Wake Forest just offered me on Wednesday night." Wake joins Clemson, North Carolina, South Carolina and East Carolina on the offer list for the Monroe High School superstar.

Ashcraft who is being recruited as both a running back and a defensive back has impressed the recruiters with his play at running back this season. The talented prospect had 291 yards on 13 carries with 3 touchdowns in a game earlier this season.

"We had a heart breaking loss to Piedmont this week. The score was 39-34. I had 3 touchdowns and 86 yards. They put me in the negative in the second half." The prize recruit has not attended any Clemson games yet this season but is making plans to watch the Tigers later this fall. "I'm looking at my schedule right now to decide. I may come to the Virginia game."

Ashcraft plans to make a commitment after his senior season is completed. "I plan to decide around late December."

Coach O'Cain is planning to come see Ashcraft play against Forest Hills on October 3. We will continue to keep you updated on this outstanding athlete from North Carolina, right up through signing day 2004.
