Top Georgia LB: "I Was Very Impressed"

Leland Jones, one of the top linebackers from the state of Georgia, has watched the Tigers at their best and worst already this season. The talented linebacker was in attendance when Clemson dominated Georgia Tech last weekend. Where do the Tigers stand with the prize recruit?

Jones was very impressed with the linebackers play against the Yellow Jackets. "It seemed like they were reading the offenses fast. In Georgia they were kind of slow reading the offense. It kind of surprised me that Clemson sacked Reggie Ball 5 or 6 times. I was very impressed."

The Atlanta star linebacker was also impressed with the offense performance of the Tigers against the Jackets. "I liked how they utilize their wide receivers. They made the game interesting going deep and let the receivers do their thing."

Did the Tigers performance help their chances with the outstanding prospect? "It did, but I don't look too much at the games. I want to see where my role would be on the team.

The chances are good that Jones will be a Tiger next season. The big question is whether it will be LSU, Auburn or Clemson. "My top 4 schools are Clemson, LSU, Auburn and Maryland," stated Jones.

Don't expect an early decision from the talented linebacker. "I will probably commit late. I plan to take my visits first. I haven't scheduled any of the yet."

The 6-1, 205 pound prospect has played two impressive games leading Douglass High School to a 2-0 start. Jones has 20 tackles, 3 tackles for loss and 2 forced fumbles in just 2 games.

Distance will not be a factor for the talented linebacker. "My mom wants me to leave Georgia and see some new lands. She likes to travel."

Coach Burns is recruiting Jones as a strong side linebacker for the Tigers. We will continue to keep you updated on the outstanding linebacker from Georgia, right up through signing day 2004. Top Stories
