Burns Making Serious Headway with Hamlin

Mike Hamlin continued his impressive senior season last week and some new schools are now starting to show interest. As it stands now, it appears likely that he will be running down the hill or listening to 2001 next season. The question is, where would the Lamar standout sign today?

Lamar, South Carolina

Hamlin had another outstanding performance this week, as Lamar High School remained unbeaten. The outstanding athlete had 5 catches including 2 touchdowns, 1 caused fumble and 5 tackles in a 25-3 triumph.

The offer list continues to include Clemson, South Carolina and Vanderbilt, but several new schools including Memphis and Louisville are showing significant interest. Hamlin is not ready to go on record with a leader but he did say, "Right now it is between South Carolina and Clemson."

If the 6-2, 185 pound prospect had to decide today where would he sign? "It would probably be Clemson right now."

Hamlin will be watching to see how the teams perform for the rest of the season and that will have a big impact on where he commits. "I will look at how the teams do this year," stated the prize recruit.

Don't expect an early commitment from the talented athlete. "I will probably wait until signing day to make my announcement."

Coach Burns is making sure Hamlin knows how interested the Tigers are in his services. "Coach Burns called me again on Monday. He saw me play earlier this year. He told me I was ready to play with them."

Hamlin plans to visit Columbia this week to see South Carolina battle Tennessee. We will continue to keep you updated on this outstanding athlete from South Carolina, right up through signing day 2004.
