Purnell Continuing to Recruit Well

Clemson head coach Oliver Purnell is already making headway with a number of bigtime recruits this year. Today, we take a look at Joe Crawford, who will visit Cincinnati, Kentucky, Clemson in the coming months.

In addition to those schools, Joe Crawford, who was once a Michigan commitment, visited the Wolverines last month.

"I just got to know the guys a little better," Crawford said. "I got to play with them and hang out with them. [The players and coaches] really want me to come there."

And that says nothing of the fans of the Wolverines. Crawford is one of the most gifted wingers in the class. A natural scorer with a great body built for contact, a stroke from deep and a flair for dunking, he's an elite prospect.

Currently, he's down to five schools. Kentucky, Michigan, Michigan State, Clemson and Cincinnati comprise his list. He'll visit Kentucky the weekend of October 25 and Cincinnati the weekend of October 18.

"Cincinnati has always been one of my favorites since we went there for team camp as a freshman. They started recruiting me again and showing interest."

And the Wildcats are appealing because of their playing style and head coach. Tubby Smith recently came in for a home visit with Crawford, as did most of the head coaches on his list.

"I enjoy the officials, but sometimes [the rest of the process] gets a little tiresome." Crawford said that he's thinking about signing in the late period because "you get to see who really wants you and who needs you."
