Tigers Chasing Several for Jones

Atlanta Linebacker Leland Jones is starting to determine who is leaders are as he continues his impressive senior season. Where do the Tigers rank with the superstar linebacker? We've got all the details on the 6-1, 204 pound linebacker in this recruiting Q&A.

LB Leland Jones
6-1, 204, 4.65
Douglass High School
Atlanta, Georgia

How did your game for Douglas High School go last week?
Jones: We won 26-12 and we are 4-1 on the year. I had 9 tackles and 2 sacks.

Who are your favorite schools at this point?
Jones: My top 5 would be LSU, Maryland, Auburn, Clemson and Vanderbilt.

Where do the Tigers rank in your top 5?
Jones: I say they are probably number three or four in my top 5. They would be right behind LSU, Maryland and Auburn.

What will it take for the Tigers to move up your list of favorites?
Jones: I think they would need to recruit me harder. The other schools are recruiting me harder. The surroundings are part of it.

Auburn is close to home. LSU and Maryland are close to some larger cities. I want to major in communications. I know if I'm near a larger city I have a better chance of getting a job if I don't make it to the NFL. There's nothing they can do about the surroundings so I would say the best thing they can do is recruit me harder.

Do you plan to visit any college games over the next few weeks?
Jones: I may go see the LSU game against South Carolina. I will probably also go to the Maryland game against Georgia Tech. I'm also trying to go back up to Clemson one more time.

Have you set any official visits yet?
Jones: No, I don't have any set yet.

We will continue to keep you updated on this outstanding linebacker from Georgia, right up through signing day 2004.
