The 6-2, 180 pound prospect has led Lamar High School to a 9-1 record on the season, and they are preparing for their first playoff game this weekend. "We won 47-0 last week. I caught 1 pass and had 6 tackles last week. The playoffs start this week. We play Beaufort."

Hamlin is not prepared to go on record with a leader, but both Palmetto state schools are listed as favorites. "South Carolina, Clemson, Tennessee, Wake Forest and Florida are my top 5 schools," stated the talented prospect.

Clemson assistant coach Burton Burns called on the Lamar standout last evening. "He wants me to come to the game this weekend. I told him I would be there."

Don't expect an early decision as Hamlin expects to take his official visits before making a decision. "I haven't setup my visits yet. I've talked to a couple of coaches about them but don't have any set."

Hamlin, who grew up a Clemson fan, registered 96 tackles, 10 interceptions as a defensive back, 4 touchdowns as a receiver, one punt return touchdown and one kickoff return touchdown as a junior.

We will continue to keep you updated on this outstanding defensive back from South Carolina, right up through signing day 2004.

Editor's Note: South Carolina appears to have the slighest of leads here, but obviously, there's still a long ways to go. Another sidenote, Hamlin has always hinted that he'll likely stay in-state.
