WR Sinclair Cannon
6-3, 190, 4.5
Greer High School
Greer, South Carolina
The Tennessee Volunteers picked up a verbal commitment from an athlete from Greer, South Carolina. Sinclair Cannon, a 6-3 and 190 high school quarterback, committed to the Vols late last week but went public tonight.
"Tennessee is the place for me," Cannon said. "I just fit right in. The staff is nice and they made me feel so comfortable."
The big question with Cannon is what side of the ball will he play on. This season, he has quarterbacked Greer to a 9-2 record. They face Greenville in the third round of the playoffs this coming weekend. Cannon has passed for 1,400 yards and rushed for 1,200 yards. At Tennessee, he will likely play wide receiver or defensive back.
"I prefer offense over defense because I like that ball. I know I can make the transition to receiver quickly. I played a little bit this season but I know I have good hands and quickness. If it doesn't work out, I know I can play safety and even corner. Playing quarterback will help me play in the secondary. I have a knack for knowing what the QB will do."
Cannon committed to Tennessee over Pittsburgh, Maryland, Clemson, South Carolina, Vanderbilt and Duke.
