Clemson athletic director Terry Don Phillips issued the following statement this afternoon:
"As I have stated previously, Coach Tommy Bowden and I will sit down at the end of the season to discuss the Clemson football program. The fact that I have not issued a statement previously should not be viewed in a negative light.
"I see considerable improvement in our program. I am particularly proud of the resiliency of Coach Bowden, his staff and players throughout this season.
"I know I speak for the University when I say we are also particularly proud of our team's performance in the classroom. Our graduation rate this year was 11th in the nation among the 117 Division I schools, and second among public institutions."
