Albert Ashcraft came close to pulling the trigger on a commitment to the Clemson Tigers late last week. Did the Tigers impressive performance against the Gamecocks get the speedster closer to a commitment?

The 6-3, 190 pound prospect from Monroe, North Carolina did not attend the Palmetto state battle, but he did watch with great interest on television. "I loved the game. It was great. I watched the whole game. I really like the way the Clemson team moved the ball. I liked the way they ran the ball."

Ashcraft is sure that he wants to wear orange next season. The only question is will he be listening to Tiger Rag or Rocky Top. The Tigers still lead for the Monroe superstar followed by Tennessee. "It's pretty much down to Clemson and Tennessee," stated the prize recruit. South Carolina was also making a push for Ashcraft, but they are no longer under consideration.

After watching the Tigers route the Gamecocks is the talented athlete any closer to making a commitment? "I want to take my visits to see how I feel. I will sign wherever I feel the most comfortable."

Ashcraft has already scheduled an official visit with Clemson for the weekend of January 9 and he just set an official with Tennessee for January 23.

We will continue to keep you updated on this outstanding running back from North Carolina, right up through signing day 2004.
