Reggie Merriweather rushed for 218 yards and three touchdowns on 33 carries in leading North Augusta to a 35-27 win over Hillcrest. North Augusta is now 8-0 on the season, their best start since 1962. Merriweather sealed the deal with a 1-yard touchdown with about a minute and a half left in the game.
Reggie currently leads the state in rushing with 237 attempts for 1582 yards (6.7 per attempt), and 20 touchdowns and the Tigers are still his current favorite. Without a doubt, Merriweather has been THE most impressive senior running back in the state this year.
Arlington Country Day's (Jacksonville, FL) potent defense shut down St. Joseph in a huge win Friday evening. The Apaches held St. Joseph to minus-42 yards while Clemson verbal commitment RB Gerald McCloud racked up five touchdowns and 187 yards on only 14 rushing attempts.
DB Jeff Francoeur (Lilburn, GA) caught a touchdown pass in helping lead Parkview to a 44-8 winover Shilow. Jeff is set to visit the Tigers the weekend of the Florida State game. Parkview is currently ranked as one of the top 10 high schools in the country by most national polls.
QB James Banks threw for two scores in a 52-7 win over Terre Haute North in the Giants' regular season finale. Ben Davis High School finished the regular season undefeated, outscoring their opponents by more than 25 points a game. Banks is currently ranked as the #2 athletic quarterback prospect in the nation by recruiting expert Max Emfinger. Banks' interest in the Tigers is still reportedly high, and he will set all of his visits after his team romps throught the playoffs.
WR Troy Williamson had 70-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in leading Silver Bluff to their 23rd consecutive win and the #1 ranking in Class AA. On the ground, Williamson has 40 rushes for 523 yards and 4 touchdowns so far this season. Through the air, Troy has 16 receptions for 372 yards and 6 touchdowns. He is set to visit the Tigers on January 12 and South Carolina the following weekend.
WR/DB Fred Bennett of Manning has 29 catches for over 600 yards and 11 touchdowns on the year. He also has 30 total tackles and 4 interceptions playing in the defensive backfield. Clemson, South Carolina, and Georgia Tech are still his favorites, and he will be attending the North Carolina game this weekend in Death Valley.
Big OL Dustin Fry has around 70 pancakes (that is knockdown blocks not breakfast) through 8 games. He also graded at 97% in last week's game. Fry is set to visit Clemson on January 11th. Tennessee and South Carolina figure to be the two biggest obstacles in the recruiting process.
