Monday Morning Recruiting Updates

With the regular season winding down for most high school programs, the future stars of tomorrow are starting to separate themselves from the rest of the pack. We've included updates on Troy Williamson, Moe Thompson, Jeff Francouer, Gerald McCloud, Travis Anderson, and the state's leading rusher in Reggie Merriweather.

Silver Bluff's Troy Williamson caught six passes for 106 yards in the Bulldogs victory over Allendale Fairfax. Troy also finished with 86 yards rushing and scored two touchdowns on the ground. On the year, Williamson has an impressive 22 receptions for 479 yards and 7 touchdowns, and 49 rushes for 609 yards and 6 touchdowns.

Troy's offer list now includes Clemson, Auburn, Florida State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia and North Carolina.

North Augusta's Reggie Merriweather ran for 161 yards and a touchdown in a 38-21 loss to Irmo Friday night. Merriweather scored from 70 yards out on the first play from scrimmage. He is currently the leading ground gainer in the state of South Carolina, with 1743 yards and 21 touchdowns.

Travis Anderson caught 6 passes for 177 yards and 1 touchdown Friday night in Byrnes 52-13 pounding of Fort Mill. Travis has now listed South Carolina as a slight favorite over Clemson. Anderson's teammate, Anthony Johnson completed 16-of-34 passes for 330 yards and four touchdowns. Johnson is starting to gain national recognition as a big-time passer.

Big Moe Thompson (6'5,250) had a great game on both sides of the ball in Stratford's 27-12 win over Berkeley.

Moe grabbed an eight yard touchdown pass in the back of the end zone away form two defensive backs and also played well from his defensive end position.

After the game Thompson talked a little bit about his recruiting, "I am not a hard lean to North Carolina at all," he said. "I am interested in them and plan to visit but it is not accurate to say I am a lean there. I like South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida State, Clemson and Georgia. Those are my top five."

Thompson was at the Clemson/North Carolina game this weekend and will also be at Clemson/FSU, and the Clemson/USC game.

Clemson verbal commitment Gerald McCloud scored once and finished with a very impressive 203 yards on nine carries in Arlington Country Day's 56-0 win over Bell. McCloud, projected as a defensive back or wide receiver at Clemson has dominated in all phases of the game for the Apaches this year.

DB Jeff Francoeur returned two pass interceptions for touchdowns and grabbed a 60-yard pass to set up a score to lead Parkview (Lilburn, Ga.) past rival Brookwood (Snellville, Ga.) 24-7. Francoeur attended the Southern Cal/Notre Dame game this weekend in South Bend, Indiana. Parkview High School maintains a top 10 national ranking in all major high school polls.

Clemson verbal commitment Cory Groover caught a 25-yard touchdown pass in helping lead Hannah-Pamplico to 32-0 win over Latta. Hannah-Pamplico is now 7-2 on the season.

We will continue to keep you updated on all of these fine athletes as the season continues.
