Quick Hits with Charlie Whitehurst
As a quarterback, how tough is it that you haven't played in a game in over a month when you are trying to prepare for the sixth ranked team in the country?
Whitehurst: Yeah, that's a little tough especially when you consider the speed that we are going to be seeing on defense, especially when you consider that we are playing turf. You can't simulate that in practice and it will probably be something that we have to adjust to in the game, but I think we can do that. We are mature enough to figure that out.
I've noticed your dad and a lot of your family has been on the practice fields this week. What's it been like for you playing football again so close to home?
Whitehurst: It's nice. My dad and a couple of my cousins have been down watching practice. It's nice, but it's kind of all the same to me at this point, there's really not much of a difference whether we are playing here or back up in Clemson.
Is there anything different going on this week to make sure that this team doesn't go out and play the same way they did last year against Texas Tech? Have you noticed anything?
Whitehurst: I think the mood is much more business like this year compared to last. Not that we were non-chalant or anything. I just think we were concerned more with the trip last year instead of the game.
Is that something you can credit to the seniors on the team? Are they taking more of a role to make sure that doesn't happen again?
Whitehurst: Yeah, I think so. The guys this year are doing a great job in that department. They've also done a good job for me in helping show me how it's supposed to be done.
