Cannon Gets a "Peach Bowl Call"

The Tigers continue to push hard for Greer's Sinclair Cannon as he prepares for his official visits. Cannon received a call from the Peach Bowl Friday afternoon as the Tigers prepared to defeat the Vols, and several interesting scenarios are now developing as Sergio Gilliam and the Clemson coaches make a late push.

The Tennessee commitment watched the Peach Bowl with great interest this year. "I watched the game on television. I thought Clemson played a pretty good game."

Cannon received a call Friday afternoon from Coach Blackwell as the Tigers were warming up for the Peach Bowl. "Coach Blackwell called me right before the game. He wanted to see how I was doing and see if I was going to watch the game."

The Tennessee commitment will visit Tennessee, Clemson and possibly Maryland this month although the schedule may be changing.

"I will visit Tennessee on January 16. I am still planning to visit Clemson, probably near the end of the month. I'm supposed to go to Maryland this weekend, but if I don't hear from them I will go ahead and go to Clemson this weekend with Sergio."

Cannon is a good friend of current Clemson Tiger and former Greer standout Sergio Gilliam, and Sergio continues to try to convince his former teammate to join him at Clemson next season.

"Sergio was over at my house this morning. He's been working me hard for Clemson." Gilliam and Cannon have been good friends for about 6 years according to the talented prospect.

Did the Tigers impressive Peach Bowl victory over Tennessee have any impact on his commitment to the Vols? "No, not really," stated the prize recruit.

Cannon is unsure what it would take for Clemson to overtake Tennessee as his leader. "I really don't know at this point," stated Cannon.
