We spoke with Boiling Springs wide receiver and Shrine Bowl performer Brooks Foster earlier this week, to see how things were shaping up before two of his more important official visits.

Did you get a chance to see Clemson in the Peach Bowl?
Brooks Foster: Yes, I watched it on television.

What did you think of the Tigers performance in the Peach Bowl?
Brooks Foster: It was a good game. Clemson came out playing real good.

Are you ready to go on record with a leader?
Brooks Foster: No, I still don't have a leader.

Who are your favorites at this point?
Brooks Foster: Kentucky, Maryland, Clemson, and North Carolina are my top 4.

What official visits do you have scheduled for January?
Brooks Foster: I will be going to North Carolina this weekend. I am going to Clemson on January 16.

When do you think you will be ready to make a decision?
Brooks Foster: I want to take those visits first.

How is basketball season going for you?
Brooks Foster: It's going good. We are 7-5. I am averaging 21 points and 10 rebounds. We will continue to keep you updated on this outstanding receiver from South Carolina, right up through signing day 2004.

Editor's Note
As we've maintained since early December, Brooks Foster is probably the only true wide receiver prospect in the Palmetto state that has the possibility of signing and enrolling at Clemson this year.

He's no where close to reaching his potential on the football field, and is viewed as a basketball player playing football by some coaches. That's no knock on Foster mind you, he's just now starting to reach his potential, and under the right direction, he could turn into a serious offensive weapon during his collegiate career.

It's interesting to note that Foster will be coming to Clemson the weekend after the Tigers will welcome in most of their major prospects. Foster, along with Aaron Kelly, Mike McIntosh, Jamar Bryant, and Phillip Morris (likely a sign and place) are the top wide receiver targets still on the board.

At this point in the game, Foster would probably be ranked after most of those prospects.
