Morris Closing on Clemson Commitment

Timmonsville standout Phillip Morris will take his official visit to Clemson this weekend. Will the talented receiver commit to the Tigers during his visit this weekend? We've got all the details in this recruiting update.

WR/S Phillip Morris

Timmonsville High School
Timmonsville, South Carolina

As the younger brother of current Tiger Kelvin Morris, Phillip has spent a great deal of time at Clemson but he still is excited about the upcoming official visit. "I'm looking forward to it," said Morris. "I can't wait to get up there."

Morris is getting close to making his commitment, but he still insists that he may be a week or two away. "I'm just about ready. I'm getting close to it. I'd say probably there is about a 40% chance I could do it this weekend. It just depends."

The 6-4, 190 pound prospect was impressed with the Tigers performance against Tennessee in the Peach Bowl. "They played great that game. They played like they did against Florida State."

Morris received a call from Coach Burns as the Tigers were warming up in the Georgia Dome. "He called during the pregame warm-ups. He said he was standing on the 30-yard line."

The Clemson visit may be the only official visit for Morris. "I might take a visit to South Carolina State. I'm not sure." Morris is still awaiting his test score to see if he has qualified.

We will continue to keep you updated on this outstanding receiver from South Carolina, right up through signing day 2004.

Editor's Note
Morris has always been a Clemson lean and we project him to sign with the Tigers on February 4th. The only issue will be academics. Should Morris not qualify, look for him go to Georgia Military Academy. It was learned earlier today that Morris will likely go there, as opposed to Southwest Mississippi JC. Top Stories
