Monday Afternoon Recruiting Notes

Some Monday afternoon scoop for the serious Clemson recruiting fan. Included in this update are some outstanding news and notes on DT Dorrel Scott, DE Anthony Davis, and ATH Sinclair Cannon. Dorrel Scott made his official decision earlier today...guess who?

Here are some additional news and notes we've picked up on, here at, during the last 24 hours:

* As we first reported yesterday on, Ridge View DT Dorrel Scott made his official decision commiting to the Clemson Tigers earlier this morning, and will no longer take any more official visits. He's a Tiger and will make the decision public at 4 o'clock this afternoon.

* The focus for the rest of the 2004 class will now turn to the defensive line, where several big time prospects are seriously in the mix heading into the heart of January. Look for a hard push for Anthony Davis, Jacquez McKissic, Chris Zellner, among others.

* The Tigers have backed off of Marcus Folmar almost completely and Jake Wingo completely.

* The early returns on Chris Zellner's official visit to Ohio State have not been good. Zellner left for Ohio State after his official visit with Clemson this weekend. The Buckeyes are pushing him as a linebacker, and he's more interested in playing tight end or as a defensive end. Look for a possible commitment to Clemson soon.

* Clemson came extremely close to turning Alabama native Travis Robinson this past weekend. Extremely close, but it looks like the door has now closed on that situation.

* has been told that Fork Union LB Maurice Reevey was one of the most impressive visitors this weekend on campus. We've also been told that he could play any one of four possible positions, including inside/ouside linebacker, rover, or even fullback. Furthermore, he's also favoring Clemson and could commit in this week and cancel is impending trip to Virginia Tech.

* And for the icing on the cake, there is a legitimate shot that the Tigers could turn running back Jamaal Edwards this weekend. That is all we can say at this point...stay tuned! Edwards would be the playmaker at running back that Clemson has needed for quite some time.
