Camden, N.J. defensive lineman Shukree Barfield saw the recruiting process get off to a shaky start earlier this season. "When Clemson offered me, I told people how much I liked them and the next thing I know, everyone was reporting that I was already committed," Barfield said.

"That's not the case. I'm not committed anywhere. I think it caused some schools to back off at first."

However, after a dominating senior season, Barfield was back on the national recruiting map. Many of the nation's top programs came calling. "Miami started recruiting me during the season," he said. "I was pretty happy because I always said to myself how great it would be to play for those guys."

The talented defensive lineman, who at 6-4 and 290 pounds is playing varsity basketball right now, watched all three of his favorites in their bowl games.

"Clemson actually played Tennessee," he said. "It was nice to watch but the Miami game was real tight. I loved that. Watching those guys fly around and make plays in a game like that. It doesn't get much better than that."

Barfield isn't ready to name any favorites yet. "My only visit so far was to Rutgers," he said. "It was OK. I gotta see these other ones before I can say for sure where I'm going."

Barfield plans on visiting Clemson, Tennessee, and Miami during the following three weekends. Top Stories
