All Even For Thompson

Shrine Bowl offensive tackle James Thompson has no leader with only 21 days until signing day. Even with Coach Bowden and Coach Swinney visiting earlier this evening, Thompson maintains that things are wide open entering the heart of January.

For the past few weeks the powerful lineman has stated that the Tigers were the team to beat for services.

Now, that no longer appears to be the case. "I am all even," said Thompson in an interview with CUTigers.com Wednesday evening. "I have no leader right now. Clemson, South Carolina and Florida State would be my favorites."

The Thompson household and Sumter High School have been full of visitors this week as coaches from North Carolina, North Carolina State, Clemson, South Carolina and Florida State have visited with the prize recruit.

"Coach Bowden and Coach Swinney came by the house tonight. They just left about an hour ago. It went well. They are still in the running."

Thompson visited North Carolina last weekend and came away impressed with the academics. "The academics at North Carolina brought them up," stated Thompson.

The Sumter star will now visit South Carolina this weekend, Clemson on January 23 and Florida State on January 30. When asked what Clemson, or any other school would need to do to get back in the lead, Thompson responded, "We'll just have to see how the visits go."

The deciding factor for the talented prospect may be the business schools of his favorites. "I want to know how the business school is. I am looking for the best business school."

Thompson still plans to wait until signing day to announce his decision. We will continue to keep you updated on this outstanding offensive lineman from South Carolina, right up through signing day 2004.
