C.J. Barber, one of the top prospects on the board on defense for the Clemson Tigers in 2004, is enjoying his visit in Columbia this weekend.

"Things are going good," said Barber. "I'm just seeing what they can offer me and how I could possibly fit in on their defense next season."

Barber, who has maintained for the past week or so that he will wait until after his official visit in Columbia to announce his decision, maintains that he won't be doing anything hasty this weekend.

"I want to get home and talk with my family about it before I decide," said Barber. "I'm still looking at possibly Sunday, but probably Monday or Tuesday before I announce anything."

Barber also added that he's spending a lot of time this weekend with another top prospect from the Palmetto state. "Yeah, I've been hanging with Mike Hamlin a good bit this weekend. He's enjoying the visit too."

Barber remains one of the top candidates on the defensive board for the Clemson Tigers, and projects as either a whip or rover in defensive coordinator John Lovett's scheme.

Barber is one of the "swing" recruits in the Palmetto state this year, and will likely decide between South Carolina and Clemson sometime in the next 72 hours.

Clemson obviously has the edge in overall program stability, but the Gamecocks have one of Barber's best friends in JUCO transfer Jonathan Joseph, who is already enrolled in school.

As we've reported for quite some time, this one will come down to the wire between these two old rivals. We will continue to keep you updated on C.J. Barber, right up through signing day.
