Tigers Fall to N.C. State, 86-69

The Clemson Tigers fell to 8-7 overall, and 1-3 in ACC play following an 86-69 loss to N.C. State Saturday evening at the RBC Center in Raleigh. The Tigers failed to duplicate their defensive success from a win earlier in the week over Florida State.

The Clemson Tigers scored the first basket of the game Saturday evening to take a quick 2-0 lead. Unfortunately, that would be the last time Clemson would find itself ahead of the Wolfpack Saturday evening.

N.C. State went on a 14-0 run and never looked back in a 86-69 victory at the RBC Center in Raleigh.

Sharrod Ford led the way for Clemson with 20 points, and Julius Hodge led the way for the Wolfpack with 23. The Tigers have now dropped 6 in a row to N.C. State.

"I thought we came out flat, and we really didn't have an individual on our team that played well. So when you come out flat, and don't play, on another team's home court, it's going to be a long night," Clemson head coach Oliver Purnell said in a postgame interview.

State would lead by as many as 25 points in the second half before Clemson rallied to make the final score respectable.

"You can't take anything away from N.C. State though, they really played well tonight and rebounded from their loss in their last game," added Purnell. "It was a combination of their offense, our offense becoming frustrated because of how long they had to play defense, and then their second and third opportunities on the boards."

The Tigers' leading scorer, Chey Christie, failed to score in a game for the first time since his freshman year against Florida State.
